The Global Category buying team covers the spend related to strategic global categories such as equipment, consisting of a.o. line pipes, valves, fittings, pumps, E&I. The Global Category buyer is part of the team and partners with technical specialists, users and vendors to develop standards for his categories. He or she translates these into global contracts, streamlining the procurement process and creating best safety, performance and value for the organization.

Key responsibilities
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Global Procurement Strategy; Determine, together with the technical specialists and users, the strategy for global categories to ensure best performance and value for Vopak; Drive innovation in category strategies; Manage tender processes, negotiations and the conclusion of contracts; Manage contract execution, supplier performance, reviews, audits and quality assurance; Ensure Vopak’s understanding of the supplier market and economics; Ensure all purchasing is executed in accordance with the Vopak Procurement Principles and Procedures and Operational Excellence standards; Develop and maintain high level and sustainable relationships and partnerships with category suppliers, internal and external stakeholders and relevant third parties.
Functie eisen
Technical Masters degree and at least 5 years relevant experience at a tactical/strategic level in a relevant business role; Experience with all aspects of contract management (commercial, risk management, legal issues) and able to liaise with technical experts, users and suppliers; Team player showing initiative and creativity, able to create momentum in a decentralized environment.
